Assistance with Traffic Violations in Martin County, St. Lucie County and Indian River County

I represent people in Florida who get a traffic ticket. Certain traffic violations carry criminal charges, while others seem less severe and usually just involve paying a fine. Every traffic violation has the potential to be very damaging to your life and wallet, so you need a criminal defense attorney with experience in fighting traffic tickets.

Seeking Justice for All

I have more than 30 years of experience in criminal law matters in Florida and I offer supportive representation through the criminal justice system for the two types of traffic violations: criminal tickets and infractions.

Criminal Traffic Violations

A criminal traffic ticket is more serious than an infraction and a conviction can carry hefty fines, the possibility of jail time or mandatory prison time and certain driver's license suspension. Criminal traffic tickets include:

  • Driving under the influence (DUI)
  • Driving with suspended or revoked license
  • Reckless driving
  • Driving with an open container

These criminal violations can be charged as either a misdemeanor or felony based on the person's previous record. My experience as a criminal defender can help you successfully fight these serious charges and possibly avoid conviction or jail time.

Traffic Infractions

Infractions are the less serious, noncriminal type of traffic ticket, but they have the potential to dramatically affect your life if they are not paid or if you have multiple offenses. Noncriminal traffic infractions include:

  • Moving violations, such as speeding, careless driving or failure to yield to a stop sign
  • Nonmoving violations, such as not wearing a seat belt or improper parking

Moving violations usually result in points being added to your driver's license, while nonmoving violations do not. Neither type of infraction carries criminal charges or the possibility of jail time, but they both carry substantial fines. Traffic infractions can also cause your car insurance rate to go up and may result in a driver's license suspension if you have multiple offenses.
